Pyromancy Principles: The school of Pyromancy is well known to contain some of the most powerful spells within it. This also means, it contains some of the most dangerous. These spells control fire itself and, as such, can accomplish things that fire can. It also means that in the right conditions, it can spark actual fire. Extreme care should be used by any mage when dealing with pyromancy, be they casting it or it being casting upon themselves. Hydromancy is known as being the opposite of pyromancy, but it can serve to bring balance to a highly aggressive school. Nevertheless, many spells in pyromancy can be countered by hydromancy, and where such can occur is noted below.
Spells: Inflame - Inflame is a basic spell which is cast upon others. It sets the target on fire and the victim will burn until the spell exhausts its mana or is put out with the spell soak. The spell can be stopped with fireshield, but it may eventually break through the shield if it the shield is not replenished occasionally. Inflame can set fire to other objects which come in contact with the victim. Kindle - The most basic of fire spells, this spell can burn a target, however its primary function is to set fire to object. It can light a torch or a campfire. It can burn documents and other small objects which are made of combustible material. Fireball - An area effect spell in which a ball of fire is cast over an area. It will strike any which are near and burn those not protected from it with fireshield. Fireshield - Like all of the elemental shield spells, this spell protects someone from attacks of the same element, in this case fire. It can be cast upon others and it can be strengthened, even before the spell has diminished. Only one elemental shield may be active at the same time. Mages who have stronger version of fireshield may cast it over weaker versions. Weaker versions may not be cast over stronger. However, attempts to replace the spell with a different shield will be effective, no matter the strength of the new shield. Flametongue - Flametongue enchants a weapon with magical fire, which will burn an opponent when they in addition to any damage the weapon might do. The spell is short lived, but highly effective. Flamewall - Perhaps one of the most dangerous spells available to a pyromancer. This spell creates a towering wall of flame in a designated direction and any who attempt to enter or exit through the wall will be set on fire. It is most often used to trap a target in an area, but those with a strong enough fireshield will be able to step through the wall unharmed. Pillar of Fire - A very short lived spell, this causes a wall of flames to come up around the caster. Anyone who attempts to strike them will be burned. Scorch - Scorch is a single target damage spell learned by those versed in the schools of pyromancy. This spell once mastered, is ultimately the strongest single target damage spell in the repertoire of the pyromancer. Strength of Fire - A useful spell for most mages, as it increases their strength when cast. The amount of strength gained and how long it persists varies with the knowledge of pyormancy. Summon Fire Elemental - Summons a being made of pure fire. Their strength varies based on the level of the pyromancer and the current forms known, in order from weakest to strongest are, snake, phoenix, and tiger. This spell is currently banned from being cast.
Concepts: Combustion - Pyromancers knowledgeable in techniques of combustion are able to alter their own magically created flames, causing them to burn faster and more intensely than normal fires. The pyromancer can use these techniques to enhance the damage of kindle, scorch and fireball spells. Endless Burn - Pyromancers with this skill are able to create flames that burn for an unnaturally long time. The duration of all flamewall, detonation, inferno, and inflame spells cast by the pyromancer will be greatly increased. Sculpted Fire - Specialized pyromancers are able to sculpt and mold the flames they create so well that it becomes an art form. With this skill, the potency and duration of all pillar of fire, strength of fire, fireshield and flametongue spells will be increased. |
